3-hour jewelry workshop in florence: rustic silver ring

Sterling silver ring by Michelle

During a recent visit to Florence, Italy, Michelle completed this sterling silver ring in only 3 hours during a jewelry fabrication workshop. Michelle previously took jewelry courses in college but has been away from the bench for years and wanted to get back into the swing of things.

She decided on a ring band with “FIRENZE” stamped on the interior, made more visible with liver of sulfur. A slightly domed disc with a rustic texture created with a small ball-head hammer cradles 5 silver spheres made from heating scrap silver pieces to their melting point. These were soldered into the bowl and then soldered onto the ring band.
