Castel del Monte stone inlay pendants
This is the second version of a pendant design of the Castel del Monte architectural floor plan. Read some history about the castel and see the first version with paper, sterling silver, and resin. This series of pendants features the plan marked with stone inlay: green malachite, black marble, and lapis lazuli.
The octagonal shape and floor plan was meticulously hand-sawed and filed. The frame for the stone inlay and hook was then soldered onto a back piece, then sawed and filed again. Once the pendant was sanded and cleaned, a rubber mold was made for multiple casting purposes.

After each cast piece has been cleaned and finished, the spaces were filled with crushed stone inlay, filed, sanded, and polished. See more about the process with the Barletta Castle Pendant.
For more information about the Castel del Monte and to see the vintage paper plan version of the necklace, see: Sterling silver pendant of floor plan from the Castel del Monte (Puglia). Any stone color inlay can be applied to this pendant, or it can alternatively be made into a brooch by added a pin finding. The diameter measures 5cm. To order this necklace, contact me.
