With this tintype ring, I chose to focus in on the hands holding a book or keepsake. “il Regalo” is fabricated of sterling silver with a liver of sulfur patina, 18k gold rivets, and a found antique tintype photo. It resembles Victorian mourning jewelry and seeks to remember a gift from an anonymous person. The photo has so many potential stories to tell. I like that an image of hands is worn on the hand, and that the photograph itself is printed on metal, making it very tactile and subject to rust damage as seen on the top left corner.
