A new red wine release by Paolini e Stanford Winery near Offida in the Marche region of Italy features a dog collage that I made with magazine pages. Like many boutique wineries, Paolini e Stanford are supporting artists while creating a unique label design which sets them apart from the traditional wine labels and the usual market associated with them.
The wine was presented last week at the Merano Wine Festival in northern Italy by Dwight and Raffaele, the winery owners and makers.
“The 2010 Baccofino Offida Rosso DOC is a blend of our Montepulciano and Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Having spent 2 years in a new 2500 liter barrel, it has elegant tannins, rich fruit, a beautiful deep color and is age worthy, but also very pleasant to drink now. The artist label is dedicated to Bacco, our resident flat coated retriever.”
Besides the new contemporary cantina, the winery also runs a charming B&B, the Nascondiglio di Bacco. The area around Offida is beautiful with an amazing landscape year round. The countryside is perfect for making some wonderful wines.
