I came across this vintage book, Vocabolario delle Idee (or the Dizionario Pratico della Lingua Italiana) by Giulio Orsay Ponard, printed by Antonio Vallardi (Milano) from 1922, reprinted from the 1914 edition.  It isn’t really a dictionary or a thesaurus, but simply a vocabulary book of words, divided by significance.

To my delight, on page 484, I found a section about OREFICE, which means goldsmith or jeweler in Italian, with a root from oro (gold), but one can also work in other precious metals. Below this heading, are a list of types of traditional jewelry that inspired me to make a set of self-explanatory definition pieces, presented in a simple rectangular format, made with sterling silver, paper, and resin. I get lots of creative ideas from old books and ephemera.
