I love scouring flea markets for materials and inspiration. When I travel, I try to find the local flea market in each city.
I recently went to the Alameda Point Antique & Collectibles Faire near San Francisco. It was a perfect warm sunny day in January with the Port of Oakland in the background and San Francisco in the distance over the bay.
Booths range from very professionally displayed shop-like stalls to get down and dirty dig through boxes of surprises. This market, held on the first Sunday of every month, is in a huge industrial parking lot and is so large I was there for 4 hours and did not even see all of the 800+ booths.
So many watches, so little time…
Here is an arrangement of the day’s flea market finds. I can’t wait to get started on some new jewelry projects with my treasure of antique goodies!
Fantastic finds! I am wearing one of your rings today, with the watch findings. Happy that you found new treasure and inspiration at Alameda. I’ve gone twice to that same flea market (with our mutual friend) and found it’s scale overwhelming, yet fun. Glad to hear that you’re finding great resources here on your trip.
Thanks, Giselle. Yes, that flea market is great! Now, back in Italy, on to the Florence markets. A new post about my local finds is coming soon! ciao ciao
