1×1 Collective is a project that began last year in Florence to create a collective of independent jewelry artists who collaborate for the diffusion of contemporary jewelry. It is an open and ever-changing group that organizes events, fair, exhibitions and projects.
“1×1 COLLECTION” is a group exhibition and a temporary shop. It will remain open for the whole month of December with a new selection of works made by 12 international jewellery artists:
Korea: Eunjae Baek, Germany: Marlene Beyer & Isabel Dammermann, Spain: Andrea Coderch, Italy: Margherita de Martino Norante, Eugenia Ingegno & Gabi Veit, Belgium: Elinor de Spoelberch, Taiwan: Wen-Hsien Carissa Hsu, Japan: Sayaka Ito, Canada: Geraldine Nishi, Brasil: Anna Helena Van De Pol de Deus.
The group of work includes an interesting mix of concepts, materials, and techniques. I was able to meet Spanish jeweller, Andrea Coderch. Japanese kimono flowers are her inspiration, but her use of pierced, sawed, and burned wood and metal gives the work a rugged texture, finished off with delicate silk threading.
