Villa Giulia necklace, v2: this is the stone inlay version. Using the floor plan as a template, I sawed out the structural elements of the architectural plan from 1mm thick sterling silver sheet. By filling in the negative spaces with crushed black marble, the design mimics the floor plan of the museum found in an old Guida d’Italia travel guide.
Once the original piece was fabricated, a silicon mold was made for reproduction. Any color stone can be inlayed in the negative spaces. My personal preference is black marble. This piece can alternatively be made into a brooch by removing the fixed chain and adding pin findings.
