When I am in San Francisco, I always make sure to stop by Velvet da Vinci, a gallery of contemporary craft specializing in artist jewelry and metalwork for over 20 years. The space is jam-packed with a variety of work by international artists, from playful to sculptural, conceptual to clever interpretations on otherwise traditional, never the usual. The gallery represents a long list of artists and rotates special exhibitions and installations 10-12 times a year. It is a must-see for collectors, museum curators, art-jewelry enthusiasts and artists alike. I find it an inspirational place to go see what other artists are up to.
